Case Information
31 year old Yvonne Scott was last seen in Wyoming, Michigan on January 3, 2004. She was last seen walking eastbound on 28th Street around 11:00 pm.
Background
Yvonne was married but separated at the time of her disappearance and has two children. She had struggled with substance abuse issues in the past, but was in the process of getting her life back together. She was scheduled to start a new job at the Holland American Water Company.
Yvonne had dropped out of contact with loved ones in the past, but never for more than a week at a time. She is a member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
Disappearance
On the night of January 3, 2004, Yvonne Scott called the police to report that two people had robbed her. Officers arrived on the scene and took an incident report. She reportedly refused to press charges, so the report was not pursed further at the time.
After making the police report, Yvonne was last seen walking eastbound on 28th Street, in the vicinity of 2900 Clyde Park Avenue Southwest in Wyoming, Michigan. She hasn’t been seen since.
Prior to calling the police that night, Yvonne was seen in the area of South Division Avenue on the southwest side of Grand Rapids. She called her mother that night saying she had gotten into an argument with an individual named “Gordy” at a restaurant.
She reportedly went to an apartment following that argument, and was later seen leaving in a vehicle.
“What we know is that around January 2nd, she was last seen getting into a vehicle, she had an argument with some people at an apartment,” Sgt. Scott Dietrich with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office told 9&10 News. “And she did make contact with one of our other local agencies here, Wyoming Police Department, to make a report about some stolen items.”
Investigation
Authorities did identify one male suspect following Yvonne’s disappearance, however they were unable to find any physical evidence linking him to her disappearance.
Appearance
Native American female with brown hair and brown eyes. Yvonne stands 5’11-6’0 tall and weighs 135-145 pounds. She had long, curly hair at the time of her disappearance. Her ears are pierced, she has a mole on the inside of her right ankle, and a scar under her chin.
Clothing & Accessories:
Yvonne was last seen wearing a short sleeve white knit pullover shirt, black sweatpants with “Bing Bang” written across the back, a long black cotton trench coat, and black slip on shoes with medium heels. She wears glasses with gold colored wire frames and a necklace with a cross pendant.
