Case Information
19 year old Tyler Thomas was last seen in Peru, Nebraska on December 3, 2010. She disappeared while walking back to her dorm room on the Peru State College Campus.
Disappearance
On December 3, 2020, Tyler Thomas was last seen near 5th and Nebraska Streets in Peru, Nebraska. She disappeared while walking towards her dorm room on the Peru State College Campus.
Surveillance video shows Tyler walking across campus around 1:30 am. She sent a text message to a friend shortly after, saying she did not know where she was. Tyler never made it back to her dorm and hasn’t been seen since.
Two students reported her missing in the early morning hours of the 3rd after she failed to return to her dorm.
Investigation
Authorities quickly identified fellow student Joshua W. Keadle as a suspect in Tyler’s disappearance. They found tracks matching his vehicle and drag marks near the Missouri River boat dock on campus grounds.
Keadle admits to picking her up that night and says they had consensual sex, but claims to have left her alive by the dock.
In 2013, Tyler was declared legally dead.
In 2016, Tyler’s family won a $2.54 billion wrongful death judgment against Keadle. At the time the judgment was filed, Keadle was serving 15-20 years in state prison for the 2008 rape of a 15 year old girl at Midland Lutheran College.
In 2020, prosecutors charged Joshua Keadle with Tyler’s murder. A jury convicted him of second degree murder, and he was sentenced to 71 years in prison.
Extensive searches have been conducted, but Tyler’s body has never been found.
Appearance
Black female with brown hair and brown eyes. Tyler stands 5’5 tall and weighs 140 pounds. Her ears, lip, and right eyebrow are pierced.

Tyler was last seen wearing a teal long sleeve shirt, dark sweatpants, ear muffs, and a scarf.
