A teen who went missing 8 years ago has been found alive, according to the Houston Police Department.
On July 2, authorities confirmed that Rudolph Farias IV had been found alive, and that he was currently recovering in a hospital.
In a press conference on July 6, authorities confirmed that Farias had actually returned home in March 2015, the day after he was supposed to have gone missing. Police say Farias’ mother lied to them during the investigation into her son’s disappearance, but that they were not pressing charges at this time.
Farias, who was 17 years old at the time, was last seen in Houston, Texas on March 6, 2015. He disappeared while out walking his two dogs. The dogs were later found, but Farias was gone. His asthma inhaler was later found by authorities in an empty field where Rudolph usually walked his dogs.
According to his family, Rudolph had attempted suicide in the past. He was suffering from depression, PTSD, and anxiety for which he was taking medication.
At the time of his disappearance, Rudolph was possibly disoriented and might have stopped taking his medication. According to his mother, Rudolph was very wary of strangers.
