The suspect in Alexis Gabe’s murder was killed Wednesday after allegedly charging at officers with a knife during an arrest attempt, authorities announced Thursday.
That suspect was Gabe’s ex boyfriend, 27 year old Marshall Curtis Jones, who was killed in Kent, Washington during the execution of a search warrant. The warrant was issued for Jones on June 1, who was charged with the murder of Gabe.
According to the press release, after Oakley and Antioch police issued the arrest warrant it was given to the Seattle Police Department, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, and the United States Marshals Service. During the execution of the warrant, Marshals fired at Jones, killing him, after he “produced a knife and charged at officers.”
Jones was the last person to see Alexis Gabe before she disappeared on January 26, 2022, who was last seen with him at his home on Benntree Way in Antioch, California around 9:00 pm.
Authorities provided details during a news conference Thursday, saying they had enough evidence to show that Alexis Gabe was murdered, and that her former boyfriend, Marshall Curtis Jones, was responsible.
Police also have their eyes on another person of interest, one of the suspect’s family members, who may have played a role in the cover up.
Alexis Gabe’s Disappearance
24 year old Alexis Gabe was lase seen on January 26, 2022 in Antioch, California. She disappeared after heading over to her ex-boyfriend’s house, and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Alexis was last seen with her ex boyfriend at his home on Benntree Way around 9:00 pm. Alexis never made it back home, and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
She was reported missing under suspicious circumstances on January 27, 2022.
On January 27, two of Alexis’ nieces found her car abandoned with the door open and keys still in the ignition on Trenton Street in Oakley, California.
Surveillance video from the area shows someone getting out of the car from the driver’s side and walking away around 9:30 pm on the night she disappeared, but the person has not been identified.
The male subject seen leaving her vehicle is described as being about 6 feet tall, with dark skin and a slim build. He was seen wearing a large jacket, a beanie or cap, and an N-95-type face mask with his beard poking out.
On February 1 Antioch police served a search warrant on the Benttrree home where Alexis was last seen. They were seen removing several large bags from the residence, one of which included a vacuum cleaner. A second search warrant was served on the home on May 12, 2022.
Alexis’ cell phone case was found in Antioch and sent it off to the crime lab to be analyzed, but authorities haven’t said exactly where or when it was found.
According to reports, the cell phone case was found by searchers back in February, but wasn’t made public until it could be positively identified.
Authorities questioned her ex-boyfriend numerous times, but he was not publicly named a suspect until June 2, 2022.
