63 year old Steven LeCount was last seen in Lansing, North Carolina on August 10, 2025. He was last seen at his home in the 200 block of Howell Road.

Disappearance

Around 2:00 pm on August 10, 2025, Steven LeCount was last seen at his home, located at 285 Howell Road in Lansing, North Carolina. Steven wandered away that afternoon and never returned.

Officials say Steven has a head injury, impaired speech, and the cognitive abilities of a child. He answers to the name Steve, but may not respond. Steven has family ties in the Sunset Beach area.

Investigation

On August 11, 2025, The North Carolina Center For Missing Persons issued a missing endangered alert for Steven;

Citizens are asked to be on the lookout for LECOUNT WAYNE STEVEN, who is believed to be suffering from a cognitive impairment.

Searches have been conducted in the Silas Creek Road, North Fork New River, and Lansing areas with the help of trained ground search, dog, and boat teams, but no clues as to Steven’s whereabouts have been found.

‘On Saturday, Aug 16, at 19:00 we suspended the search for Steven LeCourt. Ashe Rescue members worked over 597 hours during this week and we called for help from areas in and around Ashe County to help us.’ – Ashe County Emergency Management.

On September 11, 2025, the Sunset Police Beach Department asked the public to be on the lookout for Steven since he has family ties to the area.

Appearance

White male with gray/partially gray hair, brown eyes, standing 5’7 tall, and weighing 165-170 pounds. He has very short hair and is balding on top. 

Steven has a tattoo of a dog on one bicep, and a deer tattoo on the other.

Clothing & Accessories:
Steven was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with an unidentified graphic on the front, camouflage shorts, and work boots or tennis shoes.
