Case Information

54 year old Stephanie Clemons was last seen in Miramar, Florida on May 20, 2018. She was last seen doing laundry at her apartment complex.

Disappearance

Around noon on May 20, 2018, Stephanie Clemons was last seen doing laundry at her apartment complex in the 7200 block of Venetian Street in Miramar, Florida. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Stephanie failed to show up for work the next morning at Jackson Memorial Medical Center, which is highly unusual. Loved ones say it’s uncharacteristic of her to miss work and be out of contact with family.

Stephanie leaves behind four children and four grandchildren.

Investigation

Stephanie’s car keys, house keys, and cell phone disappeared with her.

There has been no activity on Stephanie’s bank account since she went missing.

Stephanie’s vehicle, a 2018 Volkswagen Jetta, was found parked at her apartment complex in it’s usual spot, with no signs of foul play. Her credit cards, purse, and $300 in cash were found inside the vehicle.

Inside Stephanie’s apartment, investigators found the television on and food in a pot on the stove. There is no indication she left for a vacation or on her own accord, as none of her belongings were packed.

A few months after her disappearance, authorities announced her case was being treated as a homicide investigation. 

Stephanie’s estranged husband, Jack Freeman Jr., was questioned by authorities and named a person of interest. Police said there were text messages showing them fighting just days before she disappeared. Freeman also has a long history of domestic violence.

Records show at least four aggravated battery and aggravated assault charges for Freeman between 2006-2017.

According to police, Freeman showed deception on his polygraph exam when asked about Stephanie’s disappearance. 

Investigators traced the cell phones of Stephanie and Freeman, which indicates both devices were in roughly the same place at the same time after she disappeared.

In July 2023, police searched Bernard Park in Miramar for evidence related to Stephanie’s disappearance.

Appearance

Black female with black hair and brown eyes. Stephanie stands 5’4 tall and weighs 135-145 pounds. She had shoulder length dreadlocks at the time of her disappearance. Stephanie has a birth mark on the right side of her nose.
