Case Information

79 year old Shi Hua Xu was last seen in Great Neck, New York on December 16, 2025. She walked out of her house on Oakley Street and never returned.

Disappearance

At approximately 3:00 pm on December 16, 2025, Shi Hua Xu left her home on Oakley Street in Great Neck, New York. 

She was reported missing by her family that evening after she failed to return.

Xu has dementia, and lives with her husband and son in a multi-generational home. She speaks some English, but mainly Mandarin Chinese.

Investigation

Xu’s son says she left without her cellphone and sneakers which have an Apple Airtag embedded in the soles, therefore her family has not been able to track her.

She has walked off a few times before, but always had a tracking device with her. One time she walked off for 12 hours before returning home on her own.

She may attempt to travel to the Bayside area of Queens, according to authorities.

She may be disoriented and in need of medical assistance, but may refuse to get help. According to loved ones she walks fast and is always talking to herself.

Xu’s family is asking anyone in the area to check their video footage from December 16-23 in hopes the cameras picked up some footage of her.

On October 1, 2016, human skeletal remains were found in Plandome Pond Park, about four miles from where Xu was last seen. They have been sent to the medical examiner for identification.

Appearance

Asian female with grey and black hair and brown eyes. Xu stands 5’0 tall and weighs 95 pounds. 

Clothing & Accessories:
Shi was last seen wearing a red jacket, black pants, and dark colored shoes.
