The search for Kathleen Harrison-Trent led police to discover the body of a female in the woods off Connecticut Avenue between River Road and South River Road yesterday.
Investigators believe the cause of death to be criminal in nature. The identification of the body has not yet been disclosed.
The body was taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and to determine the cause of death.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
Trent was last seen at her residence, located at 61 Forge Road in Riverhead, New York on January 27, 2026. Kathleen, a Riverhead Raceway worker for over 40 years, hasn’t been seen since.
She didn’t call her grandchildren that evening, which she does every night to say goodnight.
Her vehicle, a 2017 Chevy Colorado with NY plate KLA3945, was later located by another family member who lives with her.
Her son reported her missing to the Riverhead Police Department on January 29, 2026.
