Background
Roseann Pleasant was born on September 1, 1957. During the late 80s and early 90’s, Roseann was in a relationship with with William Bradley Jackson. She gave birth to their daughter, Valiree Brianne Jackson, on October 6, 1990.
The couple broke up shortly after Valiree was born. Brad was granted custody, and Roseann was allowed supervised visits. She disappeared one week before Valiree’s second birthday.
During their relationship there were reports of physical abuse, with Brad being arrested for domestic violence on at least one occasion.
In 1992 Roseann suffered from substance abuse issues. One week before she disappeared she called her brother in Arizona, telling him she was concerned for her safety. She had plans to take three of her four children and move down south.
Roseann was involved in prostitution, which led authorities to believe her disappearance was related to her lifestyle and that she may have been the victim of a serial killer.
Disappearance

On September 29, 1992, Roseann Pleasant was seen at a convenience store at the intersection of Ash and Nora in Spokane, Washington.
She was last seen walking alone, northbound on Howard between 3rd and 4th streets. Roseann hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Disappearance of Roseann’s Daughter, Valiree Jackson

On October 18, 1999, seven years after Roseann’s disappearance, her 9 year old daughter Valiree Jackson was reported missing by her father Bradley.
Bradley called 911, stating that Valiree was outside playing in the yard with the dog before school when he went to do laundry; when he came back to check on her she was gone.
Police found bloodstains on Valiree’s pillow inside the family home, which they found suspicious. Brad said they came from a nosebleed she had.
Bradley told police he thought Roseann had come back and abducted her.
After searching his vehicles, investigators secretly placed GPS trackers on them. One investigator, Detective David Madsen, told Brad that if Valiree was buried in a shallow grave she would be easy to find.
Brad fell for the trap and investigators tracked him as he moved Valiree’s body from a shallow grave about 10 miles from his home to a location 50 miles away to bury it deeper.
In November, cadaver dogs found Valiree’s body and Brad was arrested for murder.
Authorities believe Brad suffocated Valiree in her bed, which would explain the bloodstains on her pillow, before wrapping her in a plastic bag and burying her nearby.
As for the motive, police believe Brad killed Valiree because she didn’t get along with his onetime girlfriend, and that with his daughter out of the way he could rekindle his relationship with her.
During his trial Brad admitted that he buried Valiree, but claimed he found her dead in her bed due to a Paxil overdose (a drug she was prescribed for behavioral issues).
The jury didn’t buy Brad’s story and he was convicted of murder on October 5, 2000. He was sentenced to 56 years in prison.
In 2001, Valiree’s case was featured on an episode of Forensic Files. Season 6: episode 25, “Bagging a Killer.”

Bradley Jackson was questioned by police following Roseann’s disappearance, but was uncooperative and refused to take a polygraph test.
