Case Information

74 year old Ronald Johnson was last seen in New Town, North Dakota on October 16, 2011. He was last seen at the 4 Bears Casino and Lodge during the early morning hours.

Disappearance

On October 15, 2011, Ronald Johnson had plans to visit his son in Jamestown, North Dakota. After visiting with his son, he was supposed to see his sister in Valley City, though he never arrived for either.

He missed a scheduled appointment for a stress test at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Fargo on October 17, 2011, and failed to make his planned trip to Needles, California for the winter.

In the early morning hours of October 16, 2011, Ronald was last seen on surveillance video leaving the 4 Bears Casino and Lodge in New Town, North Dakota. He did not appear disoriented and was walking normally.

Johnson was last known to be driving his 1982 gold 4-door Cadillac Fleetwood with North Dakota license plate number Hzz466. He was last seen heading east over the bridge on Highway 23. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Ronald is diabetic and requires medication. He previously had double bypass surgery. Loved ones say it’s uncharacteristic of him to leave without warning. 

Investigation

Ronald had his cell phone with him when he went missing, but the battery went dead a few days later.

After being unable to contact him, his son checked his Riverside, North Dakota residence. He found groceries lying out and a suitcase half packed. It appeared as if Ronald had been interrupted and left home abruptly.

His medication and checkbook were left behind at home.

Searches along Highway 23 were conducted with the help of planes and sonar devices, but no further clues as to his whereabouts have been found. Police have asked anyone in the area between New Town and Garrison to keep an eye out for anything unusual.

Appearance

White male with grey hair and blue eyes. Ronald stands 5’11 tall and weighs 220 pounds.

Clothing & Accessories:
Ronald was last seen wearing a grey button down long sleeved shirt, black suspenders, dark pants, and prescription eyeglasses.
