After graduating college Gallagher moved to Oahu, Hawaii. He worked a stable job in the same company that his brother worked for in Colorado. He enjoyed water sports, including surfing, body surfing, and swimming.
Disappearance
In September 2020, Robert Gallagher’s mental state began to decline during the Covid-19 pandemic, as he was unable to head out to the ocean during the state’s strict lockdown, according to his family.
On October 31, 2020, Gallagher’s last contact with his family was a phone call to his mother. His family tried to get him to seek professional help but he refused.
Around 2:00 pm on November 2, 2020, Gallagher was transported by ambulance to Kahuku Medical Center on Oahu’s North Shore after he was found to be acting erratically by local police.
However, Gallagher left the hospital before receiving treatment, and was last seen by a woman after he tried to gain entry to a house near the medical center. A pair of body surfing fins was found at the house, which were later confirmed by his family as belonging to Robby.
Robert Gallagher never returned home and hasn’t been heard from since. His family reported him missing to the Honolulu Police Department after they were unable to contact him.
Investigation
Gallagher disappeared along with his cell phone, which was found a few days later by a resident on the side of the road in Wahiawa, Hawaii, about twenty miles from the medical center.
The phone was handed over to Gallagher’s family, but there was nothing on it that gave them any clue as to his whereabouts.
All of Gallagher’s belongings were left behind at the home he shared with roommates. His passport was left at his mother’s house in California.
There have been a few potential sightings of Robby over the years, but none have been confirmed.
Whereabouts
Police found no evidence for foul play in Robert Gallagher’s disappearance. A $10,000 reward is being offered by his family for information leading to Robert’s whereabouts.
