Preston D. Pierce, whose been a person of interest in the disappearance of Gretchen Fleming for over three years, has been taken into custody.
Gretchen was last seen leaving the My Way Lounge with Pierce in the early morning hours of December 4, 2022.
In September 2025, human remains were found on Courtney Ridge Road in Palestine, West Virginia. They were sent for genetic testing and came back as Gretchen’s.
Pierce was taken into custody during a traffic stop earlier today. He’s being charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, kidnapping and concealment of a deceased human body.
He is currently being held in the Asheville, North Carolina area pending an extradition hearing. A court appearance has been scheduled for May 18, 2026.
