Remains of Christopher Mauk Found, Cause of Death Unknown

Updated April 3, 2024; Posted April 3, 2024

Disappearance of Christopher Mauk

Remains found late last year have been positively identified as 39 year old Christopher Mauk. Mauk was last seen leaving the home he shared with his girlfriend in Laramie, Wyoming on July 2, 2022.

Christopher took his cell phone with him when he left, but left the rest of his personal belongings behind, including his wallet, eyeglasses, and required medication.

On November 5, 2023, a dog walker found remains in the Laramie River Greenbelt Park, about six blocks from Lee’s Mobile Home Park where Christopher lived. The remains were later identified as Mauk.

Albany County Coroner Celia King released a report last week which states Mauk’s cause of death is “unknown” and the manner of death “undetermined.” No obvious trauma was found on the remains, aside from a missing left femur which was amputated in 2018 following an accident.

According to investigators Christopher’s case remains active and open.

If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Christopher Mauk please contact the Laramie Police Department at (307) 721-2526.

The Disappearance of Christopher Mauk

Christopher Mauk Missing Wyoming

At the time of his disappearance, 39 year old Christopher Mauk was living in a trailer with his girlfriend in Laramie, Wyoming.

He lost his left leg in a fireworks accident six years prior to his disappearance and uses crutches to get around. His injury prevented him from working, and he had been trying to get on disability.

Christopher had struggled with addiction in the past, though it’s unknown if drugs were involved in his disappearance.

Disappearance

Christopher Mauk was last seen on July 2, 2022, at the home he shared with his girlfriend in the 900 block of McCue Street in Laramie, Wyoming.

Prior to leaving, Mauk’s girlfriend says he told her he had something to tell her before he hopped in the shower. She fell asleep while he was in the shower, and when she awoke Mauk was gone.

She says he had written “I love you, beautiful” on the mirror and left her a bracelet on the table before leaving. Christopher hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Investigation

Christopher took his cell phone with him when he disappeared, but left behind the rest of his personal belongings including his wallet, eyeglasses and required medication.

There have been a few potential sightings of Christopher since he disappeared, but none have been verified.

One witness claims to have seen him at a car show in Laramie, and another person says they saw him in Cheyenne.

Christopher’s sister says it’s unlike him to disappear without telling anyone.
