Human female remains found in a shallow grave are “believed to be” those of 23 year old Kada Scott. The remains were found yesterday, in a wooded area behind the vacant Ada H. Lewis Middle School near the Awbury Arboretum.
The medical examiner’s office is working to confirm the identity and determine cause of death.
Scott was last seen in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 4, 2025. She was last seen leaving her job at The Terrace at Chestnut Hill, an assisted living facility in northwest Philadelphia.’
On October 14, 2025, 21 year old Keon King was taken into custody and charged with kidnapping in connection to Kada’s disappearance. King is being held on $2.5 million bail.
Upon his arrest, investigators said they believe Scott came into contact with King on the day she went missing.
Update: Initial DNA testing strongly indicates the remains are those of Scott.
The Disappearance of Kada Scott

On the evening of October 4, 2025, Kada Scott was last seen by her mother when she left for her job at The Terrace at Chestnut Hill, an assisted living facility located at 495 East Abington Avenue.
Scott arrived at work, but left prior to her shift’s completion. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Her shift was typically from 10:00pm – 6:00am; authorities say she left the facility around 9:45 pm.
On October 5, 2025, her family reported her missing to the Philadelphia Police Department.
Investigation
Kada’s car was still parked at the facility when police searched the premises. The facility does not have surveillance cameras.
There has been no cell phone or social media activity from Kada since she disappeared. Her family says it’s uncharacteristic of her to go missing without warning.
In the days leading up to her disappearance, Kada told her family and friends that an unknown individual had been harassing her via phone.
Officials have not yet identified the person, but are continuing to investigate.
“You have a 23-year-old young lady who has completely disappeared. We have no cell phone activity or social media activity and she’s not reached out to family or friends,” Police Captain John Craig of Northwest Detectives told reporters on Wednesday.
A tip brought investigators to search the Awbury Arboretum in East Germantown on October 10, 2025, but so far no further clues as to her whereabouts have been found. The Arboretum is about 2.5 miles away from Kada’s workplace.
“Our evidence we have put us in this location,” Frank Vanore, deputy commissioner for Philadelphia police, said in a press conference, adding that, “Nothing relevent to this investigation, so far, has been found.”
On October 14, 2025, 21 year old Keon King was taken into custody and charged with kidnapping in connection to Kada’s disappearance. She remains missing.
Police are also searching for King’s vehicle, described as a 1999 gold Toyota Camry with front end damage on the left front bumper.
Investigators say they believe King and Scott came into contact with each other on the day she went missing.
