Investigation
At 3:15 am on May 2, 2025, The Broomfield Police Department spotted Paul’s truck in a construction zone off Edgeview Drive, near the WoodSpring Suites. The engine was running, the lights were on, and Paul’s dog was inside.
Authorities searched the area on foot and with a drone, but found nothing suspicious. Paul was not a guest at the hotel, and did not answer any calls to his phone, so they left the truck in place.
The following evening another officer followed up on the vehicle, this time removing the dog and taking it to a local shelter. The animal shelter then notified Paul’s mother about the discovery.
Paul’s mother went to the truck’s location every day, hoping Paul would return. The truck remained there, with Paul’s belongings inside, until May 16th when it was eventually towed away.
