Case Information
62 year old Norma Yates was last seen in Winslow Township, New Jersey on July 29, 2023. She was last seen on Vineyard Road near her home in the Atco section of Winslow Township.
Background
Norma’s family says it’s uncharacteristic of her to go missing and to be out of contact with family. They also say her home was left in a messy condition, which was unlike her.
“There’s no words to describe it. When your mother is missing and it’s labeled as a walk away and you know that it wasn’t and she would never walk away from her family, it’s just a terrible thing,” Victoria Yates, Norma’s daughter, told NBC.
At the time of her disappearance, Norma had been caring for her young grandchildren as their father underwent cancer treatments.
Disappearance
On July 29, 2023, Police conducted a welfare check on Norma Yates, and found her charging her phone by a building near her home. She said she was fine, and they gave her a bottle of water since she said she was thirsty. She then returned home.
At approximately 5:00 pm on July 29, 2023, Norma was last seen at her trailer home on Vineyard Yard, located in the Atco section of Winslow Township, New Jersey. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Norma was supposed to meet with a friend the following morning for coffee, but never showed up.
She was officially reported missing to the Winslow Township Police Department on July 31, 2023.
Investigation
Norma’s phone, debit card, pocketbook, shoes, and identification were left behind at her home. She did not have a vehicle at the time of her disappearance.
Police conducted searches in the neighborhood, including viewing surveillance cameras nearby, but found no clues as to her whereabouts.
Norma is known to frequent the West Atco section of Winslow Township.
In July 2025, detectives announced that they were pursuing new leads that put Norma in in Atlantic City on the day of her disappearance.
“It’s not definitive that she was down there (Atlantic City), but obviously we’re going to follow up on any leads, and that’s something that’s been indicated,” said Lt. Andy McNeil of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. “Therefore, anybody in that area that might have some sort of tip or information, if they can call detective Durham, that would be extremely helpful.”
