15-year-old Neveah Leigh Kingbird was last seen in Bemidji, Minnesota on October 22, 2021. She disappeared after leaving her mother’s house.
Neveah Kingbird was born on August 26, 2006. She is the third of six siblings.
Neveah is a member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe in the Red Lake Minnesota Reservation. She can speak the Ojibwe language as well as english.
At the time of her disappearance, Neveah was living with her family in the area of Carter Circle in southeast Bemidji, Minnesota. She was a freshman in high school and had plans to go to college in Colorado after graduating.
On October 21, 2021, Neveah told her mother that she planned to spend the night with friends at the movies.
Around 1:00 am, her mother returned home from work to find Neveah with a half dozen intoxicated teenagers. She attempted to confront her daughter but another teen intervened and pushed her away.
Her mother returned to her car and decided to call 911, but Neveah and her cousin left through the back door before the police arrived.
Neveah Kingbird never returned home and hasn’t been heard from since. Her mother filed a missing person’s report with the Bemidji Police Department when she couldn’t contact her.
Authorities learned that Neveah was running with another girl after leaving her mother’s house, with the pair climbing into the window of a juvenile acquaintance’s trailer in nearby Southview Terrace Park.
Around 2:00 am, they were forced to leave when the juvenile’s father asked them to go home. Neveah was last seen jumping out of the window, falling onto the ground and hitting her head before running off into the night.
Neveah left her phone behind at the trailer. Her phone and social media have had no activity since she disappeared.
Neveah was initially reported as a runaway by her family and was believed to be with friends in the Bemidji area. They later grew concerned when it appeared that no one had been in contact with her since October.
According to her family, Neveah had recently lost two friends to suicide in the same year and was struggling with grief. She had bipolar disorder and had previously experienced manic episodes.
Police found no evidence for foul play in Neveah Kingbird’s disappearance. The investigation is currently ongoing and active.
The circumstances of Neveah’s disappearance remain unclear and her case is currently classified as missing. Her case remains unsolved.
American Indian/Alaska Native female born on August 26, 2006. Neveah has brown hair, brown eyes, stands 5’4 and weighs 120 pounds. At the time of her disappearance, she had blonde highlights on one side of her hair.
Distinctive Physical Features:
Neveah has a scar near her left eyebrow. Her ears are pierced.
Clothing and accessories:
Neveah was last seen wearing a white undershirt, a black zip up hoodie, or a red sweatshirt with the “bull” logo, blue skinny jeans and black/red Nike slide sandals.
