Case Information
33 year old Nefertiri Trader was last seen outside her home in New Castle, Delaware on June 29, 2014. Around 4:00 am, a neighbor saw a man force her into the backseat of her vehicle before driving away.
Background
Nefertiri Trader was born on February 21, 1981 and has three children. At the time of her disappearance, she lived in the Saddlebrook community off Christina Road in New Castle, Delaware.
Her loved ones say it’s highly uncharacteristic of her to go missing, and that she wouldn’t leave her family.
Disappearance
On June 29, 2014, Nefertiri Trader was last seen outside her home in the Saddlebrook area of New Castle, Delaware.
Around 4:00 am, a neighbor heard a woman screaming and looked out his second story window. He saw a man, wearing tan shorts and a dark hooded sweatshirt, dragging Trader to her car and putting her in the backseat.
The male then drove away in Trader’s 2000 silver Acura with Delaware plate number 404893. Neither Trader nor the car have been recovered.
When Trader’s mother went to her home around 6:00 pm the following day, she found a smashed loaf of bread in the front yard, cigarettes, coffee, and an unopened condom on the front porch, and Trader’s flip flops by the front door, but no sign of Nefertiri. She immediately reported her missing to the New Castle County Police Department.
Investigation
The neighbor who saw Trader being dragged to her car says he believed the man was taking her to the hospital so he didn’t call the police.
Trader’s family believes she was abducted after she left the house to get something at a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store.
Four months before Trader’s disappearance she was involved in an incident at the now closed down Club Rebel. On February 22, 2014, Trader was at the club with Radee Prince. When they were outside in his vehicle, 5-6 men pulled Prince out of the car an attacked him.
Trader told police that she couldn’t see much of the attack because it happened “towards the back and on the ground” behind her vehicle. She also didn’t know if any weapons were used or how Prince sustained the large gash on his forehead, court documents say.
Trader wasn’t able to give police a lot of information about the suspectes, and disappeared before the court hearing took place.
Nearly everyone involved in the attack on Prince has since been killed or gone missing. In October 2020, Prince was found guilty of a mass shooting that left three people dead. During his trial Prince took the stand and was asked whether Nefertiri was involved in his attack, and he answered he had no idea.
Prince received three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole along with two consecutive life sentences for murdering three people and attempting to murder two others in a 2017 workplace shooting.
In 2015 the FBI began investigating Trader’s case, in addition to the New Castle County Police Department. The agencies are offering a $30,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of anyone responsible for Trader’s abduction.
