Nathaniel Hubert, a 32 year old FEMA worker who went missing from Cape Girardeau on June 20, 2025, has been found safe, according to the Cape Girardeau Police Department. No foul play is suspected.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department released the following statement;
We are relieved to report that Nate Hubert has been safely located in Shannon County, Missouri. He was found this afternoon and had reportedly been drinking from a stream and had not eaten in several days. He is now receiving medical attention for further treatment and care.
The Disappearance of Nathaniel Hubert
On June 20, 2025, Nathaniel Hubert was last seen by his co-workers at the Holiday Inn Express in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Hubert lives in Kansas City and is an employee of FEMA. He had been in southeast Missouri since June 10 to provide assistance due to recent severe weather in the area.
When Nathaniel failed to show up for his scheduled work shift on June 21 his coworkers became concerned. His mother reported him missing to the Cape Girardeau Police Department later that day.
Investigation
All of Nathaniel’s personal belongings were found inside his hotel room. Video footage shows him leaving the hotel at 9:50pm on Friday, June 20th.
Nathaniel’s rental vehicle, a 2025 silver Nissan Versa with Oklahoma license plate PZC389, was observed traveling westbound near the intersection of MO Hwy 72 and 34 on June 20, 2025 at 10:36 p.m.
Cameras were not able to see who was inside the car, and it’s unclear what direction the vehicle took at the intersection.
His last known message to friends was sent through WhatsApp on the evening of June 19, and they say he may have been planning to hike at the Trail of Tears park on June 20.
Authorities do not suspect foul play, but say his disappearance is concerning because it’s out of character for him to be out of contact with his loved ones and coworkers.
