Case Information
22 year old Mortimer Wortman was last seen in Jackson Township, New Jersey on November 21, 2025. He was last seen near a wooded area off High Bridge Road around 10:30 pm.
Disappearance
Around 6:00 pm on November 21, 2025, Mortimer Wortman was captured on surveillance camera getting into a vehicle with acquaintance Adam Zalouk.
At approximately 10:30 pm, Mortimer was last seen near a wooded area off High Bridge Road in Jackson Township, New Jersey.
His vehicle was later found in the parking lot of Regional Day School, a short distance from his mother’s house. Mortimer is a senior at Rutgers University studying agriculture, and was visiting his mother at the time of his disappearance.
Police have said Wortman should be considered both missing and endangered.
Mortimer was reported missing around 12:00 pm on November 22, 2025 by Adam Zalouk, the acquaintance who was last seen with Mortimer in the Regional Day School parking lot on the night he went missing.
According to Zalouk, Mortimer ran off into the woods after they got into a heated argument at Colliers Mill, a wooded nature preserve near the school.
Investigation
Law enforcement agencies have been searching the surrounding areas with drones and canine units, but have found no further clues as to his whereabouts. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has since taken over the investigation.
The person who reported Mortimer missing, Adam Zalouk, had previously been charged with threatening Wortman with a knife. Although it doesn’t appear as if Mortimer was forced into the car with Zalouk on the day he went missing, his family wants police to re-interview him.
Zalouk was supposed to face charges relating to the incident where he allegedly threatened Wortman with a knife, rammed the rear of his car, and vandalized it. However, the hearing set for December 8th was postponed without explanation.
Zalouk is facing charges of third degree terroristic threats, third and fourth degree weapons offenses, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
According to Mortimer’s brother, Zalouk had been stalking and harassing Wortman in the months leading up to his disappearance by “hanging around” outside the family home.
Appearance
Mortimer has dark brown hair and brown eyes. He stands 5’10 tall and weighs 200 pounds. He has a nose piercing and both of his ears are pierced.
Clothing & Accessories:
Mortimer was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, burgundy hoodie, and blue jeans.
