After being missing for more than 10 years, Erik Mcfadden has been found in Los Angeles.
McFadden was last seen in Charlottesville, Virginia on November 23, 2012. His disappearance may be connected to the disappearance and probable unsolved homicide of Dashad “Sage” Smith, a transgender woman whom McFadden was in communication with.
The discovery of McFadden’s whereabouts came after he started the process of trying to legally change his name, which prompted investigators to travel to Los Angeles to interview him.
According to police, McFadden may have been using multiple aliases over the years, including Frank Hargrave, Shiloh Mathis and Miles Bakari.
McFadden is believed to be the last person to have seen Sage Smith alive in Charlottesville, Virginia back in 2012. He is considered a person of interest in the case.
According to investigators they got “a lot of” information from McFadden during their conversation, but have not made the details public.
(Chief Michael) Kochis would not share any details Thursday about the information McFadden gave in that interview, including why he fled, where else he’s been living, or why he sought to change his name, stating that the investigation is still active and fluid. Kochis confirmed that McFadden participated in the interview willingly and remains a person of interest at this time. – 29 News
