Disappearance of Michael Sinotte Jr

Name: Michael Joseph Sinotte Jr
Nickname: Mikey
Age: 22 years old
Last Seen:
June 14, 2019
Location: South Kingstown, Rhode Island
Status: Still missing

Case Information

22 year old Michael Sinotte Jr was last seen at his home in North Kingstown, Rhode Island on June 14, 2019. He disappeared after leaving home around 1:30 am without telling anyone.

Background

Loved ones describe Michael as a nature lover who enjoys geocaching, animals, video games, and Pokemon. He has a computers degree from the Community College of Rhode Island.

Sinotte was diagnosed with schizophrenia in his late teens. According to his family, Michael stopped taking his medication in the weeks leading up to his disappearance. They tried convincing him to go to a doctor, but he said he felt fine and didn’t need the medication.

In the week leading up to his disappearance, his family says he had been cleaning up his room and selling items. He had also tried to purchase a gun, but failed the state’s gun safety test.

Michael’s mother, Ann Felici, says nothing seemed out of the ordinary on the day prior to his disappearance. “He got a full tank of gas, he got some takeout food and he went grocery shopping,” Felici told 12 News.

Police were later able to put together a timeline of Michael’s activities from that day by tracking his purchases; Home Depot at 1255 Ten Road in North Kingstown at 4:42 pm, Burger King at 2615 West Shore Road in Warwick at 6:36 pm, and Cumberland Farms gas station at 3323 South County Trail in East Greenwich at 9:26pm.

At 1:30 am on June 14, 2019, Michael Sinotte Jr left his home in North Kingstown, Rhode Island without telling anyone. He left quietly, and his brother saw him leave.

At 2:21 am, a South Kingstown police officer spotted Michael in his black 2000 Honda Civic in the breakdown lane on Route 138, in the vicinity of 2484 Kingstown Road. The officer asked if he needed assistance, but Michael told the officer he was a GrubHub driver who had stopped to look for directions and didn’t need help. Michael hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

The officer notes in the police report that Michael didn’t seem distressed. Michael was a GrubHub driver, though a check of his history shows he hadn’t taken any GrubHub orders that night.

At 4:45 pm on June 14, 2019, a BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued for Michael.

Investigation

There has been no activity on Michael’s credit cards or bank account since he went missing.

Three days after he disappeared, Michael’s Honda Civic was found abandoned in the Great Swamp Management Area at 227 Great Neck Road in South Kingstown. Fast food receipts and an uneaten hamburger were found inside the car.

Michael’s keys and cellphone were missing. North Kingstown police attempted to ping Sinotte’s cell phone, but entered the wrong number. By the time they pinged the correct number the phone had been turned off. The location prior to his phone being shut off was in the 3,000 acre swamp, however investigators were unable to pinpoint it’s exact location.

About 2 miles into the wooded area an empty plastic bag for a half-inch rope Michael had purchased at Home Depot was found, the rope itself was found about 125 yards away from the bag.

More than 35 searches of the Great Swamp Management Area have been conducted, but no further clues as to Michael’s whereabouts have been found.

Police searched Michael’s computer, but found no information related to the disappearance or planning for it.
