Status: Still missing
Case Information
15 year old Michael Palmer was last seen in Wasilla, Alaska om June 4, 1999. He was last seen riding his bicycle down Pittman Road around 4:00 am.
Disappearance

On the night of June 4, 1999, Michael Palmer spent the night at a friend’s house in Wasilla, Alaska. Sometime during the night he slipped out of the house to attend a graduation party with three friends near the Meadow Lake subdivision.
He was last seen at approximately 4:00 am, riding his bicycle on Pittman Road towards his home. He had been riding with his friends, but he fell behind.
His friends waited for him at the 7-11 convenience store on Parks Highway, but he never rode by. They assumed he had taken another route and rode home on his own.
His mother reported him missing around 3:00 pm after he failed to return home.
Investigation
The location of the graduation party Michael attended was about 9 miles away from his home.
The bicycle he was last seen riding was found partially submerged in the Little Sustina River, near the intersection of Pittman Road and Silver Drive.
His muddy sneakers were found about 200 yards from the river in the middle of a private airstrip, but no further clues as to his whereabouts have been found.
Michael’s family says he had no personal troubles or history that would suggest he would have ran away.
It has been theorized that Michael was either harmed by someone, abducted, or fell into the river, though K9 units never detected his scent during searches for him and dive teams found no trace of him in the water.
“People tell me I need closure. But if I have closure, I have to give up the hope,” Michael’s mother Lisa Palmer told The Frontiersman back in 2002. She kept the same phone number and remained at the house where he lived so that he can reach her.
In 2010, eleven years after Michael disappeared, his older brother Charles Palmer V vanished while out riding his snowmachine in the Talkeetna Mountains.
Searchers found his machine deep in the snow, but never found his body. It is assumed he got lost or injured in the woods and died of exposure.
