Case Information
44 year old Lisa Lee Chandler was last seen in Wolfe City, Texas on September 23, 2007. She disappeared from her home in the 5500 block of Highway 34 sometime after 5:00 pm, and hasn’t been heard from since.
Background
Lisa Chandler was born on March 3, 1963 and is the mother of two boys. At the time of her disappearance, she was living in the 5500 block of Highway 34 North in Wolfe, Texas, in a home she had lived in for 20 years.
Lisa has a history of mental health issues, and was taking antidepressant medication. She was going through a divorce, and her mother says she was more stressed than usual, though she says it’s uncharacteristic of her daughter to leave without warning.
Disappearance
Lisa Lee Chandler was last seen at her home in the 5500 block of Highway 34 in Wolfe City, Texas at 5:00 pm on September 23, 2007. She spoke with her mother on the phone that day, and said she was feeling sick.
Lisa told her she was going to the doctor the following morning, before heading out to visit her mother’s house in Starks, Louisiana, a six hour drive. Lisa never made it to her mother’s house and police do not believe she ever made it to her doctor’s appointment.
When Lisa’s mother called the next day and was unable to reach her she became worried and drove to her house to check on her. She found her daughter’s car in the driveway and her dog running loose in the yard, but Lisa was nowhere to be found.
The doors to Lisa’s house were unlocked, the windows were open, and the TV was on. Lisa’s personal belongings, including her purse, glasses, and cigarettes, were found inside on the table.
Upon not being able to find Lisa, her mother reported her missing to the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office that afternoon.
Investigation
Police tracked Lisa’s scent south of her home, along the highway towards Greenville for approximately five miles before losing the trail, where it is possible she was picked up by a motorist.
“The handlers thoughts at the time was that she went to the south possibly was walking and was picked up in a car because the scent just stopped at a certain point,” said Jeff Haines, Hunt County Sheriff’s Office detective.
Ground and air searches were conducted in the 1500 acres surrounding Lisa’s home, but no further clues as to her whereabouts were found.
Her social security number has not been used since she went missing.
Authorities say they have located one person of interest who lives in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, though that person’s name has not been released to the public.
