Updated November 23, 2023; Posted November 23, 2023

Lara Emanuele Missing New Jersey

Nearly six months after she was reported missing, Lara Emanuele has been found deceased. The 46 year old teacher was reported missing on June 7, 2023 after not returning home from work.

On November 19, 2023, a K9 tracking team found human remains in a wooded area off of Howard Boulevard and Route 80 in Roxbury Township.

The remains were taken to the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office where they were confirmed to be those of Lara.

The Medical Examiner listed the cause of death as undetermined, though authorities say there was no evidence to indicate that her death was suspicious.

The Disappearance of Lara Emanuele

46-year-old Lara Emanuele was last seen in Roxbury, New Jersey on June 7, 2023. She was reported missing after not returning home after work.

At the time of his disappearance, Lara was living in Roxbury, New Jersey. She worked as a third grade teacher at Alexander Hamilton Elementary School in Morristown.

Investigation

On June 7, 2023, Lara was captured on surveillance footage leaving her vehicle around 5:30 pm and traveling by foot into the woods behind the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Mount Arlington. She left behind some of her personal belongings, including her cellphone.

On June 8, 2023, Lara’s vehicle was found abandoned in the parking lot of Holiday Inn Express, a hotel on Howard Boulevard in Mount Arlington, about 5 miles from her home.

A handwritten note was found inside her car, indicating that she did not want to be found.

Authorities have been conducting daily searches in the woodlands of Berkshire Valley State Wildlife Management Area, near the hotel where her car was found abandoned.

The Berkshire Valley Wildlife Management Area is located in the vicinity of Lake Hopatcong, north of Interstate 80 and west of NJ 15. It has no marked trails, but includes a network of unmaintained trails and woods roads.

At the time of her disappearance, Emanuele was reportedly in the process of getting a divorce from her husband, Brian Emanuele. She had filed a restraining order against him, but recently lifted it.

Her home has been up for sale since Memorial Day weekend, but the listing was removed on June 10.

In late September 2023, it was announced that the official search for Lara was being suspended, despite her whereabouts remaining unknown.

Authorities don’t consider her disappearance suspicious, as they have footage of her exiting her vehicle alone, however they are concerned for her well being.
