Disappearance
At 3:30 am on August 2, 2020, Lani Uribes went to her neighbors home and rang their doorbell. Ring video shows her waiting a few minutes before going back home.
A few minutes later her neighbors saw Lani’s car, a 2000 Toyota Rav4, drive by and leave the neighborhood.
Lani Stella Uribes hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Investigation
Lani’s vehicle was found abandoned four and a half hours after she left home. The car was found with the windows halfway down on Cleghorn Ridge Road, near Cajon Pass off Interstate 15.
Her purse, cell phone, and other personal belongings were found inside the car. The shoes that she had been wearing in the Ring video were found on the driver’s side floorboard.
Family members and friends have searched the area where her car was located, but no further clues as to her whereabouts have been found.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to her discovery.

Hispanic/Hawaiian female born on November 12, 1962. Lani has brown hair, brown eyes, stands 5’1 tall, and weighs 150 pounds.
She has straight hair that she sometimes wears in a bun. Lani often wears sunglasses.

Why would she go to the neighbors at that time of the day , was it a regular occurrence , if the neighbors saw her leaving a few minutes later , why did they not respond to the ringing of the bell ? .
Did she do early shift work ? .
Was she in the car on her own at the time , what else did the neighbors see ? .
Why would she leave her car in a restricted area , as the area is barricaded , does she know the area well were her car was found ? .

From what we, her family saw on the neighbors video footage was my mom carrying a plate of watermelon her purse she does ring the doorbell and as she’s doing this she keeps looking around behind her and we can hear her saying Gigi or Kiki here’s your watermelon. I didn’t know at first but was told by the neighbor that her husband did answer the door and when my mom told him here’s the watermelon he told her he didn’t want it and to leave them alone. So she turns and walks away and says you leave me alone. At the end of there driveway she leaves the plate of watermelon on a pillar and she walks toward the direction of where she lived. The neighbors camera saw her car pass a few minutes later they couldn’t tell if she was driving. My mom and her neighbors had only spoken twice before in the nine that they lived there. Where her was abandoned she would never want to take her car up on that trail she was afraid actually because it was real rough and she wouldn’t want to mess her car up. However she is familiar with an area a mile down from that Cleghorn exit on the opposite side of the highway where there’s a creek you can pan for gold. Her vehicle was filled up with containers and suitcases as if she was going somewhere but here’s another odd thing they had a lot of jackets and clothing and blankets as if it was winter and this during August 2020 when it was one of the hottest summers ever. Her purse was sitting in the middle console, it was open with her wallet laying right there on top and loose one dollar bills scattered around it. Her phone was found under the driver seat facedown and push back. It wasn’t until 4 days after she had been missing when her boyfriend had gotten her vehicle released from the tow company he told them he was the lienholder. It hadn’t even been processed by any law enforcement yet, so he had another friend of my moms come with him once he got the call from the tow company saying he could pick it up. So the friend thought if it was being released then it must be ok to drive it. I forgot to mention that this was the same day that the first search of the area where her car was abandoned was done by the sheriffs and family and friends. The boyfriend didn’t want to search that side where her car was because he said she would not have driven her car on that trail. So he and my brother searched the opposite side of freeway a mile down where the creek was. Not one time did he mention anything to my brother about how he was trying to get the tow company to the car. When the boyfriend and friend were headed back home with the car he calls my brother and says that he is on his way back home with the car and if my brother could to his house , my brother lives 10 minutes away. My brother shows up and he starts to look at the car he takes some pictures of the inside and he decides to try to look under the driver seat and has to actually lie down on the ground to reach back under the seat and he finds the phone. He turns it on and everything starts coming through. All you can see are phone numbers without contact names. He’s able to screenshot some of what popped up on the screen. The phone died and he plugged the charger in and when he turned it on again it was locked and needed a pass code but the boyfriend didn’t know it. Thats when my brother got on his phone called the police department that was handling the missing persons case at that time he told them about the car and he wanted the detectives to come out but they weren’t going to be back in until Monday. The car had been touched already by so many people already. It should not have been released. The search and rescue scent dogs didn’t pick up her sent where her car found abandoned.
Why no one told about this?
I was talking to a family member about this, and we agreed that it seemed like suicide because she wanted to talk to someone before and left all of her belongings. I hope not, but who knows.
