Case Information
18 year old Kylee Monteiro was last seen in Rehoboth, Massachusetts on August 7, 2025. She was last seen in the area of her boyfriend’s house on County Street.
Background
Kylee is a recent graduate of Attleboro High School, and was three months pregnant when she went missing, according to her sister.
She had been living in a homeless shelter in Bethesda for three weeks, amidst an ‘on an off’ relationship with her boyfriend, the father of her unborn child.
Friends have said there were some domestic issues between Monteiro and her boyfriend, although the exact nature of those issues is unclear.
According to her sister, Kylee went to the hospital just prior to her disappearance for vaginal bleeding. Due to the hospital stay, Kylee ended up missing a mandatory meeting at the shelter, which resulted in her being asked to leave.
Disappearance

On the evening of August 6, 2025, Kylee Monterio reportedly called several friends and family members following an argument with her boyfriend. She expressed fear for her safety, telling them she was in danger. One of her sisters offered to come pick her up, but Kylee declined.
On August 7, 2025, Kylee went to pick up some belongings from her boyfriend’s house on County Street in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Her loved ones say it’s uncharacteristic of her to be out of contact for more than a day.
Investigation
Police have searched the ground, air, and water near County Street, including the Warren Upper Reservoir, but have yet to find any additional clues as to Kylee’s whereabouts.
Rehoboth Police are asking everyone in the area to check surveillance footage for any potential sightings.
The Monteiro family says they’re aware of all the speculation surrounding Kylee’s boyfriend, but their hope is that people don’t point fingers when no one seems to know what really happened.
On August 19, 2025, police charged 22 year old Gregory Groom with aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant woman, domestic assault and battery, and intimidation of a witness.
Prosecutors said the charges stem from “acts committed against 18-year-old Kylee Monteiro on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 107 County Street in Rehoboth.”
K9 units have been searching the woods around the residence, and an excavator was brought in. No further details about the investigation have been released.
Remains Found in Rehoboth
During a search of Groom’s property on August 19, 2025, human remains consistent with Kylee Monteiro were found.
Investigators are awaiting confirmation from the autopsy for positive identification, but “based on the current state of the evidence” Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said Groom would be facing a murder charge.
On August 20, 2025, Gregory Groom was charged with murder in the death of Kylee. Prosecutors said just before she was killed, Kylee texted her sister saying, “If I die, it was Greg.”
Groom is being held without bail, and is scheduled back in court for a probable cause hearing on September 10.
Gregory Groom Indicted For Murder
On November 20, 2025, a Bristol County grand jury indicted Gregory Groom for the murder of Kylee Monteiro.
He will be arraigned on November 25th in Fall River Superior Court and remains in custody without bail.
Prosecutors say 22 year old Groom admitted to pushing Kylee, causing her to fall and hit her head on August 6. He also admitted to knocking her phone out of her hand.
That same day Kylee sent a message to her sister saying, “He threw me on the ground, and pulled my hair and strangled me. My phones at 4 percent if I die, it was Greg.”
When police told Groom they were going to be searching his property he admitted to stabbing her and digging a hole in the woods to hide her body. Kylee was 11 weeks pregnant at the time.
