Case Information
26-year-old Kevin McGrath was last seen in Miami, Florida on September 4, 2023. He mysteriously disappeared over Labor Day Weekend during a Bahamas cruise trip to celebrate his father’s birthday.
Background
Kevin Sean McGrath was born on May 9, 1997. He is a divorced father of two young children who live with their mother in Tennessee. He is a US Army Veteran, having served six years with deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria.
In September 2022, Kevin pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in Tennessee for threatening his ex-girlfriend and her children. He was sentenced to six years of supervised probation.
In 2023, Kevin was a resident of Port St. Lucie, Florida. He received permission to move from Tennessee to Florida where he lived with his parents.
Disappearance
On September 1, 2023, Kevin McGrath boarded the Carnival Cruise Ship Conquest in Miami, Florida for a three day trip to the Bahamas as part of his father’s 60th birthday celebration with a group of 43 friends and family members.
On September 3, 2023, McGrath spoke with his father at his cabin as he was given his luggage tags around 10:00 pm. The family made plans to meet up the next morning for breakfast at 7:30 am.
On September 4, 2023, Kevin was last seen aboard the ship by his twin brother around 2 am, with cellphone footage showing him dancing to live music. At 3:30 am his pass card was scanned to enter the room he was sharing with his twin brother Andre.
Kevin’s father told WPEC that Andre thought he heard Kevin leave their room sometime between 5 am – 7 am.
At 7:30 am the family met for breakfast, but Kevin never showed up. As the ship headed back to Port Miami Kevin was still nowhere to be found. He was still missing when all passengers disembarked from the ship at 1015 North America Way.
Upon disembarking his family filed a missing persons report with the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Investigation
According to the boat’s crew, the ship’s ‘overboard’ alarm was not triggered that morning, suggesting that Kevin McGrath did not fall over. His pass was also not scanned to get off the ship during the disembarkation process.
Authorities conducted an extensive search of the cruise ship after the vessel docked at Port Miami. The Coast Guard also searched around the port and along the South Florida shore, but no signs of Kevin were found.
Whereabouts
The circumstances of Kevin McGrath’s disappearance remain unclear and his case is currently classified as missing. His case remains unsolved.
