Background

Joshua Louis Wayne Amos was born on July 28, 1990. He grew up in Caseyville, Illinois with four older sisters and two younger brothers. Amos is a father of two daughters, ages 8 and 11. He was separated from the girls’ mother.

At the time of his disappearance, Amos was living with roommates in Granite City, about twenty minutes from Caseyville, Illinois. He had recently started a job at Precoat Metals in Granite City, one month prior to his disappearance.

Disappearance

On March 19, 2023, Joshua Amos and three friends went to Scarlett’s Cabaret on Bunkum Road, a strip club in Washington Park, Illinois, in the early morning hours.

At 4:58 am, Amos was captured on surveillance video leaving Scarlett’s Cabaret and walking by himself in the parking lot outside of the club. One of his friends went out to look for him, but couldn’t find him.

Shortly after leaving the club, Amos was spotted at Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center station in East St. Louis, Illinois. According to a bus driver, Amos looked cold and disoriented at the time, saying he needed to get home to Granite City.

The bus driver helped Amos buy a bus pass and drove him to Emerson Park Station where he was later captured around 6:45 am by MetroLINK’s surveillance cameras, waiting for a train. However, Josh didn’t get on the train when it arrived.

At 7:28 am, Amos was last seen walking in a parking lot near Ee-Jay Motor Transports on Lincoln Avenue, a trucking company in East St Louis, about a five minute walk from Emerson Park station.

Joshua Amos never returned home and hasn’t been heard from since. His family filed a missing person’s report with the Washington Park Police Department when they couldn’t contact him.

Investigation

Joshua Amos disappeared without his cellphone, which had been left behind at his home in Granite City where he and his friends met up before going out that night. His bank account and credit card have shown no activity since he disappeared.

According to his family, Amos was suffering from bipolar disorder and had entered rehab for chemical addiction. His father passed away a few years ago and his birthday was recent.

Police found no evidence of foul play in Joshua Amos’s disappearance. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Joshua’s discovery.
