53 year old John Kapaun was last seen in Burnsville, Minnesota on May 26, 2026. He was last seen walking northbound on County Road 11 toward Highway 13.

Disappearance

Around 2:00 pm on May 26, 2026, John Kapaun walked away from his residence near the 2000 block of 121st Street in Burnsville, Minnesota.

He was last seen walking northbound on County Road 13 toward Highway 13, though his destination is unknown. An employee at Big Discount Liquor is the last person to spot him walking by.

John left without his cellphone, wallet, and other personal belongings. He walks with a noticeable bounce in his step and has long hair and a long beard. 

He has type 1 diabetes and is without his medication, which may cause him to become confused.

John takes daily walks, and is known to frequent Terrace Oaks West Park and Black Dog Park.

Investigation

Extensive searches of the area where he was last seen have been conducted, but no further clues as to his whereabouts have been found.

Many of the search efforts were focused around Cliff Fen Park, where a dog seemingly picked up his scent.

Burnsville police are asking anyone in the area to check security footage and contact them with any potential sightings.

Loved ones have set up a Facebook page, John Kapaun Search Party, to share updates and organize volunteer searchers.

Appearance

White male with brown hair and brown eyes. John stands 5’9 tall and weighs 170 pounds. His hair is long, past his shoulders, and he has a long gray/brown beard.

Clothing & Accessories:
John was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt, jeans, a black belt, and black shoes.
