Case Information
53-year-old James Larabee was last seen in Davis, Oklahoma on September 28, 2013. He disappeared after telling his sister he was going on a trip to Northwest Oklahoma.
Background
James Richard Larabee grew up in the small town of Davis, Oklahoma. He is divorced and has five children.
At the time of his disappearance, Larabee was living in Denton, Texas. He was very close to his sister, who lived a few hours away, with whom he regularly talked over the phone.
Three of his younger children were living with their mother, while the older two were living independently.
Disappearance
On September 28, 2013, James Larabee was last seen attending his class reunion in Davis, Oklahoma. His high school held an alumni banquet every year, and Larabee often returned to his hometown to catch up with old friends.
On October 3, 2013, Larabee’s last communication with his family was a text message to his sister, saying he was going on a trip to Northwest Oklahoma and that he would be back in nine days. His sister texted him back, but got no response.
James Larabee never contacted his family after that day and has never been heard from again. The trip was deemed unusual as his mother had Stage 4 cancer at the time and she passed away a few days later.
In 2018, his sister filed a late missing person’s report with the Davis Police Department due to a miscommunication with Larabee’s grown children.
His sister thought Larabee’s grown children had reported him missing back in 2013, but filed a report when she found out they had not.
Investigation
A few weeks before his disappearance, James Larabee quit his job and cashed out his 401(k). According to a friend, he reportedly said he was going to “just disappear” or “go up in the woods and kill himself.”
In 2015, his vehicle, a 2007 Honda Civic, was sold by an individual, who was not Larabee, through Craigslist in Georgia. His Texas Drivers License expired in 2016 and was not renewed.
Authorities contacted the owner of the car who confirmed he bought it from an individual in Georgia, but say the person who sold the car was not Larabee.
Frustrated by the lack of progress in her brother’s case, Larabee’s sister hired a private investigator who told her James’ car had been sold to a female in Georgia in July of 2014 through TitleMax. It is unknown if this is the same individual who sold the car in 2015.
Whereabouts
Police found no evidence, means, or motive for foul play in James Larabee’s disappearance.
The circumstances of James Larabee’s disappearance remain unclear and his case is currently classified as missing. His case remains unsolved.

Where either of the two ( 2 ) person ‘ s that bought the car known to him ? did he associate himself with a particular group of people most of the evening at the reunion ? . Did he leave with somebody , or on his own ? .
Did his ex – wife also attend the reunion with somebody else ? .
When he cashed out that sort of money did he mention what he intended doing with it , if he was so close to his sister , why no contact been made , surely he was able to confide in her ? .
I feel that given all the information that there is ” foul – play ” involved ? .
