20 year old Jael Hamblen was last seen in the Trailside Loop area in southern Anchorage, Alaska on October 11, 2014. She sent a text to a friend at 3:00 am, and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Jael Tiara Hamblen was born on July 28, 1994 in Washington state. She spent the first 14 months of her life in foster care. Jael was primarily raised in Wasilla, Alaska, but spent time in Washington with her father after her parents divorced.
Jael was diagnosed with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder which led to developmental delays. According to her mother, Jael began rebelling in her teens, eventually leading to her dropping out of high school and running away for the first time at age 17.
At the time of her disappearance Jael had an infant son, which her family says gave her purpose in life and led to her turning her life around. They do not believe she would abandon him. Jael’s mother was granted custody of the boy after Hamblen disappeared.
She may go by the name Sasha or her middle name, Tiara, which is her birth name.
On October 11, 2014, Jael Hamblen and her roommate, Kendra Estrada, went out to TGI Friday’s for dinner and returned home shortly before 10:00 pm. Kendra’s mother was babysitting Kendra’s children and Jael’s infant son at the time.
Jael considered going back out again, but Kendra went to bed. Jael was reportedly upset that night because a man she was interested in had rejected her.
At 1:40 am Jael texted a male friend, saying she was crying and wanted to get together with him. She texted another man shortly after 3:00 am. This is the last known contact anyone had with Jael.
When her roommate woke up around 10:30 am the next morning she texted Jael about going out to a movie together, but received no response. At noon she knocked on her bedroom door, but Jael didn’t answer. She entered the room and discovered Jael missing, her bed left unmade.
Her roommate initially thought Jael had left and stayed out all night, but began to worry when she couldn’t get in contact with her. After sending a few more texts that afternoon Jael’s phone started going straight to voicemail.
Jael was reported missing to the Anchorage Police Department by her mother on October 14, 2014.
Jael disappeared with her cell phone and purse, but her vehicle, a 1998 Ford Expedition with the Alaska license plate GFB641, was left parked in the driveway.
An analysis of Jael’s phone shows that none of the texts from her roommate on October 12 went through, meaning her phone was either turned off or the battery had died.
In March of 2015, hikers called the police after finding Jael’s purse buried in the snow along a trail in Chugiak, Alaska. Her social security card and phone were found inside the purse.
Police do not believe Jael placed the purse there herself, as she wasn’t a fan of hiking and the temperatures were below freezing on the night she disappeared.
The location of Jael Hamblen, as well as the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, remains unknown. Police are investigating her case as a possible homicide.
Jael’s case is currently classified as endangered missing and remains unsolved.
White female born on July 28, 1994. Jael has brown hair, green eyes, stands 5’4 and weighs approximately 170 – 180 pounds.
Her hair was dyed pink shortly before she disappeared and her ears are pierced. She has a strawberry birthmark above her neck line.
Jael was last seen wearing a black pea coat, wide leg blue jeans, a dark scarf, and dark colored high heels.
