Background
Jacqueline grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Pittsfield about 15 years ago. Prior to her disappearance, she was staying with a friend on Depot Street in Pittsfield.
Disappearance
On May 10, 2026, Jacqueline McCarey was last seen by her roommates in Pittsfield, New Hampshire. The roommates report that she decided to go to her sister’s house to get help, which is about 3/4 of a mile away.
Jacqueline never made it to her sister’s house, and hasn’t been heard from since. Her family reported her missing in late August 2026.
Being out of contact for short periods of time isn’t unusual for Jacqueline, as she doesn’t have a cell phone and relies on different wifi-reliant apps.
Jacqueline is physically disabled and does not drive. She has a prosthetic leg and uses a walker with a seat attached and/or two walking canes attached to her arms.
“At this time,” Det. Devon Rego of the Pittsfield Police Department said, “there are concerns for Jacqueline’s health and well-being.”
Investigation
The roommate says McCarey left a note stating her intention to go to her sister’s house to ask for help getting to the hospital, according to Jacqueline’s sister. Police say they have found no trace of the note.
“She can’t walk far or drive,” Kathleen “Katie” McCarey, Jacqueline’s sister said. “So to think that she just left out the front door of the house on her own volition with no help and like no destination, it just doesn’t seem right to me.”
According to some acquaintances, Jacqueline was seen in Pittsfield around Mother’s Day.
Appearance
Jacqueline is 4’8 tall, weighs about 110 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes. She has numerous tattoos on her arms, shoulders, and back.
