Last Seen: October 15, 2023
Location: Jemez Springs, New Mexico
Status: Still missing
37 year old Ingrid Lane was last seen in Jemez Springs, New Mexico on October 15, 2023. She disappeared after leaving for a hike, an activity she did often.
Four months prior to her disappearance Ingrid and her husband, Louis Scuderi, bought a home together in Albuquerque.
Ingrid is a practicing Buddhist who loves the outdoors, and often goes on solo hikes. She suffers from a lung condition that worsens in cold weather, as well as having issues with sleep.
At 5:30 am on October 14, 2023, Ingrid Lane told her husband she was leaving for the Bodhi Manda Zen Center in Jemez Springs, New Mexico, a meditation center she had stayed at many times before.
Ingrid arrived at the meditation center a few hours later and spent the night. The following morning she meditated with the group before heading out on a hike sometime between 8:00 – 9:00 am.
Ingrid hasn’t been heard from since.
After not hearing from her for three days, her husband reported her missing to the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office.
He says he wasn’t initially too worried since it’s not unusual for her to go a day without contacting anyone. In addition, cell phone service is known for being unreliable in the area.
The Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, and New Mexico Search and Rescue have all been working on Ingrid’s case.
The director of the meditation center said Ingrid appeared to be in good spirits on the morning she left for a hike, and that nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
On October 18, 2023, Ingrid’s Apple air tag led police to her vehicle, a black 2019 Subaru Impreza hatchback. The vehicle was found abandoned with a broken rear window in a rugged area on Forest Road 144 between Los Alamos and Jemez Springs.
A burner phone was found in her car, though it hadn’t been opened or activated.
On October 21, 2023, two hunters saw Ingrid’s car being towed and came forward with information. They said a woman flagged them down around 2:00 pm on October 15th after her car had gotten damaged. They put air back in her tire and offered to give her a ride back down to the main road but she refused.
According to the hunters she said she wanted to get to the top of a mountain. This is the last confirmed sighting of Ingrid.
The area where Ingrid’s car was found was searched with the help of canine units and drones, but no further clues as to her whereabouts were found.
A GoFundMe has been set up by her family to help raise funds for a helicopter search of the area.
Ingrid’s twin sister and her mother, who both live in Oregon, have since traveled to New Mexico to help with the search. On November 9, 2023, they found an item of Ingrid’s on the road, about one mile north of where her vehicle was found.
Another search was held on November 14 with the help of New Mexico Search and Rescue, but no further evidence was found.
The location of Ingrid Lane, as well as the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, remains unknown. No foul play is suspected in her case, according to the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office.
Ingrid’s case is classified as missing and remains unsolved.
Ingrid has brown hair, hazel eyes, stands 5’5 tall, and weighs 120 pounds.
