21 year old Hiep Luu was last seen in Berwyn, Illinois on December 15, 2003. He disappeared after leaving his family home for work that morning.
Background
Hiep Luu emigrated to the United States from Vietnam with his parents in 1996. He was living with his parents in the 1600 block of Ridgeland Avenue at the time of his disappearance.
2 weeks prior to his disappearance he had started working at Storm Products, an electronics manufacturer in Woodridge, Illinois.
Disappearance
At 6:30 am on December 15, 2003, Hiep Luu was last seen leaving the home he shared with his parents home in Berwyn, Illinois.
He left in his grey 1992 Nissan Maxima for his job at Storm Products in Woodridge, Illinois. Luu never arrived at work and hasn’t been heard from since.
He usually left between 5:45-6:00 am, but was running late that morning.
Investigation
Hiep had no credit cards, bank account, or cell phone.
On September 25, 2025, human remains were found in a submerged vehicle in Lake Osborne, located near the Naperville Public Safety Campus on Aurora Avenue.
Police said divers were doing training exercises around 11 a.m. when they found a submerged vehicle in the southwest part of Lake Osborne. The car was pulled from the water several hours later, around 3:40 p.m. – CBS News
The plates on the vehicle, a 1992 Nissan Maxima, were matched to Hiep Luu. The remains have not yet been identified.
The Berwyn Police Department, which continues to handle Luu’s missing person’s case, is now working with the Naperville Police Department in the death investigation.
Appearance
Asian male with black hair and brown eyes. Hiep stands 5’6 tall and weighs 160 pounds.
