Garcia has four children with her ex-husband; two sons and two daughters. The couple divorced after seventeen years of marriage and shared custody of their youngest son.
At the time of her disappearance, Garcia was living with her current husband, Cuahotemoc Romero Sanchez, in a house on Hurlburt Avenue in Hermiston, Oregon.
Garcia owned Careyes Beauty Salon, a business which she operated out of her home. She loved to travel and often attended hair shows for her job as a hairstylist.
On November 8, 2019, Graciela Garcia made plans to bring food to her 14-year-old son who was staying at his father’s house.
However, Garcia never showed up and her husband brought the food instead, telling the boy his mother had gone to bed.
Around 7:00 pm, Garcia’s son noticed two missed calls and a text message from his mother. He tried to return the call but her phone went straight to voicemail.
Garcia’s son grew concerned and alerted his older siblings who went to search their mother’s home. Her vehicle was found parked in front of her residence and everything inside seemed to be in place, but Graciela Garcia was nowhere to be seen.
Graciela Garcia never returned home and hasn’t been heard from since. She missed several appointments at her beauty salon scheduled for the next day
On November 11, 2019, one of her daughters filed a missing person’s report with the Hermiston Police Department when they were unable to contact her.
Graciela Garcia left most of her belongings at home, including her purse, clothes, makeup, and vehicle. She disappeared with her ID, passport, and cell phone.
On November 9, 2019, Garcia’s cell phone last pinged to a cell tower in Washington around 12:30 am before it was disconnected. Her phone record, bank account, and social media have had no activity since she disappeared.
Authorities questioned her current husband, Cuahotemoc Romero Sanchez, who said Garcia left town, leaving behind her vehicle and all of her possessions.
Sanchez was reportedly cooperative throughout the investigation. He consented to a search of his home, took a polygraph test, and provided DNA samples.
Foul play is suspected in Graciela Garcia’s disappearance. The investigation into her disappearance is currently ongoing and active.
