Case Information
27 year old Ebony Monique Giddens was last seen on March 11, 2018 in Columbus, Georgia. At the time she lived with two of her three sons in an apartment on Montclair Drive.
Disappearance
At 7:30 am on March 12, 2018, Ebony’s brother came to her apartment to pick her kids up for school as he usually did, but Giddens didn’t answer the door, nor did she respond when he tried calling and texting her. All of his calls were going straight to voicemail.
Ebony’s brother contacted the father of her two younger children, who stated that he had last spoken to her the day before.
The father of her two younger children then came over to the apartment, where he and her brother continued knocking on the door and calling her phone. After some time her five year old son came to the door and said his mother was gone.
They entered her apartment, but there were no signs of Ebony inside. Her purse, wallet and keys were in the living room, but her cell phone was missing. Upon finding her gone, they called the Columbus Police Department to report her missing.
Investigation
The last known person to speak to Ebony was a relative who had spoken to her at 11:00 pm on March 11. The relative stated the conversation was normal, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
Before she went missing, Ebony told her family she was afraid of her boyfriend, Malcolm Jackson. The week prior to her disappearance Ebony had gotten into a domestic dispute with him. She called the police, stating that he had hit her in the face and threatened her with a gun.
On March 10 he was arrested for assault; but bailed out of jail the same day. He repeatedly called Ebony, even after she told him their relationship was over. According to neighbors, Jackson was working on Ebony’s car the day before she went missing.
The day after she was reported missing, he was arrested and jailed on charges of aggravated stalking and probation violation.
Authorities stated early on during the investigation that Malcolm Jackson was a person of interest in Ebony’s case, but he hasn’t officially been named as a suspect.
Initially authorities didn’t suspect foul play in her disappearance, but her family says she would never leave her children, especially home alone. Ebony’s case is classified as missing under suspicious circumstances. Her case remains unsolved.
