ID & Discovery+ have unveiled their television lineup for the 2022-2023 season, which includes a new season of Disappeared.
Nine seasons of Disappeared aired on Investigation Discovery between 2009-2018, and in 2021 it returned as a podcast. On May 18, 2022, ID announced that Disappeared would be returning for season 10.
Capitalizing on the success of ID’s DISAPPEARED podcast comes a television re-invention of the beloved franchise. After growing demand from devoted fans, ID reboots its missing persons series to help shine a light on more individuals who vanished seemingly without a trace, and whose loved ones are still searching for answers. The series aims to bring answers for the missing and closure to their loved ones – sometimes with devastating results.
The official release date for Disappeared season 10 is set for September 7, 2022. The new season will have 8 episodes and be available for streaming on Discovery+ the same day.
Each episode of Disappeared focuses on a missing person case, from the perspective of friends & relatives of the missing person and the investigators working the case.
Best news in years! So many people love that show! I hope Chris Crutchfield Walker still narrates! He makes that show! All these police / body cams or shows with real victims crying, jumping out of their chairs, photos / old movies, etc., can’t compare to Disappeared! I am just so happy to be getting this back, as millions will be the same! WOOHOO!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!
Meeee tooo and I agree with everything in your post!
Very disappointed as many are. It was several people talking, no theme music like before & possibly a few opening words from the master “Disappeared” narrator, Christopher Crutchfield Walker! I was stunned. That was it!
My interest was not piqued at all – as it was like all the other ID shows. No narrator, no acting, just real people yakking. I do not understand the DRASTIC format. I hope it changes back to the way it was & CCW speaking throughout with his fab voice. It was so boring. OMG!
I totally agree, there is nothing about this first new episode that attracts me to watch the next one. No background on the the missing person – no context whatsoever.
love it, best show on ID
I watch every single show on ID and have since the beginning but Disappeared is the absolute best show in the channel! I’ve watched all seasons at least 4 times and can’t wait for the new one. THANK YOU ID!
My absolute favorite ID show, beyond excited.
I love this programme I’m super excited it’s back on not so great for the people who’s missing
I am beyond thrilled that this show is coming back. It is absolutely positively the best show on TV.
I love true crime shows but this is one the best there is.
Bravo Discovery for bringing it back and listening to your fans!!!!
My all time favorite show on ID, so glad they are bringing it back.
They blew it! So many of us excited for this tonight & it was nothing like the regular show itself. BORING! No familiar music AND no Chris Crutchfield Walker with his melodic voice that really defines the show. Total screwup. Many of us are NOT “amused” with this cookie cutter nonsense. It will never get renewed @ this rate. Yet, Reasonable Doubt keeps getting renewed? Yikes.
Well they screwed it up again! No Christopher Walker, no music, no anything! Might as well be watching Dateline, 20/20 etc. Such a disappointment. They know what worked and should know by now what doesn’t.
Im happy to see others who dont like this new season. Every episode is a “the boyfriend, hubby, friend or neighbor” is the reason this person disappeared. I want t hear about those who have been seemingly plucked from the streets. These episodes belong on another show not Disappeared.
WHO MADE THE TERRIBLE DECISION TO MINIMIZE THE NARRATOR’S ROLE IN SEASON 10???? “Disappeared” has continued to maintain a large, loyal fan base over the years not only because of the show’s content, but also because of the way each missing person’s case is told to the viewers. Just as Paul Winfield’s iconic voice made the series “City Confidential” such an instant classic, Chris Crutchfield Walker’s voice is the BACKBONE of “Disappeared”!! In tonight’s season premiere, he gave a brief opening narrative, but did not continue to be the enthralling storyteller throughout the rest of the episode, the way he’s always been in past seasons. (Hey Disappeared producers….. PLEASE bring back the original show format ~ otherwise it’s just not the same “Disappeared” series so many of us have grown to love & obsess over!!)
WE WANT MORE CHRIS!!!!!! WE WANT MORE CHRIS!!!!!…………………
YEAH BABY! I lose interest with CCW narrating & the somber music before watching break. WHY DID THEY DO THIS CRAPPY CHANGE? My fave ID show returns & it is so different. SAD!
They said my comment was a duplicate??? So this reply agreeing with Court can not be posted???? Oh well
I’m watching it now. Why does ID have to keep screwing with it? Stop taking it off the air and stop screwing with the narrator. Christopher Walker is the back bone of this show and is a big part of what it is. It was a perfect show and ID keeps messing with the formula. Hey ID, bring back Christopher Walker narrating FULL EPISODES again and stop taking it off the air. This isn’t hard
I have watched this show since it first aired I have a passion for missing and endangered people and I have spent the better part of a year checking for a release date for season 10 and of course ID blew it again. Christopher Walker doesn’t narrate the show he gives a small introduction in the beginning and there’s no music. I would have thought ID would have figured it out after their disastrous season 7. But they didnt. Just another 20/20 series now.
Hey, ID, it’s not broken! STOP trying to fix it. Listen to your viewers!!
Please.bring back the old Disappeared with Christopher Walken the show isn’t the same anymore I won’t be watching very disappointed 😞
I do NOT enjoy Disappeared without the original Narrator’s voice. There was a season with a completely different narrator that I skipped completely. Now the Narrator’s role is so limited. I hope Discovery considers this. Of course, we don’t know WHY it is less narrated (contract dispute?) But if it is Discovery’s decision to limit it, it was a bad one.
