Delano Burkes was born on September 21, 1996. He graduated from Cypress Springs High School and attended Texas A&M University where he played football for the Lions.
At the time of his disappearance, Burkes was married to Autumn Burkes and was the owner of his own real estate investment company.
Disappearance
On November 12, 2022, Delano Burkes spent the night out bar hopping with two friends along West 20th street in the Heights neighborhood of Houston, Texas.
Around 12:30 am, Burkes split up with his friends and went to use the bathroom of McIntyre’s, a bar located on 1230 West 20th Street.
At 1:13 am, Burkes was captured on surveillance footage getting escorted out of the back of the bar because he was reportedly drunk.
Burkes was last seen on surveillance footage from a storage facility nearby, running along from the bar, stumbling through the streets.
His two friends, who were waiting in his car in a parking lot nearby, went to check at Moonshine Deck, a neighboring restaurant grill where they thought he was, but Burkes was nowhere to be seen. They texted him and circled the block looking for him but eventually left when Burkes did not return.
Burkes never returned home and has never been heard from again.
Investigation
Delano Burkes disappeared with his phone, but it was reportedly low on battery and subsequent calls went straight to voicemail. He did not have ID with him.
After his disappearance, unconfirmed sightings of Burkes were reported in downtown Houston.
“We’re investigating this case from all possibilities. We certainly can not out rule the fact, the possibility that he wandered off. And we haven’t ruled out the fact that there’s foul play involved either,” Houston Police Chief Deese told ABC 13.

Body of Delano Burkes Found
On November 25, 2022, the body of Delano Burkes was found in Port of Houston. The discovery was made by tugboat employees who found Delano floating in the water in the Houston Ship Channel, located in the 9600 block of High Level Road, about 12 miles from where he was last seen.
A medical examiner later confirmed his identify. An autopsy will be conducted to determine his cause of death.
Police have not said whether they believe Delano fell into the water on his own or if they believe foul play is involved.
Cause of Death Undetermined
The medical examiner ruled Delano Burkes’ cause of death as undetermined. The ruling comes six months after his body was found in the Port of Houston, after he disappeared following a night out with friends on November 13, 2022.
Investigators have been unable to determine whether his death was a homicide, suicide, or accident.
