Update: The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the body found is that of Matthew Paupore.
Genoa Township, MI — On July 15, 2026, authorities responded to the Westbury apartment complex following complaints by residents of a foul odor.
At 2:11 pm, police discovered the body of a deceased male in the weeds, about 20 yards off White Horse Lane.
Based off preliminary findings, authorities believe the body is that of 49 year old Matthew Paupore, who was reported missing from Genoa Township on July 8, 2026.
The deceased’s clothing matched what Paupore was last seen wearing, and a firearm recovered from the scene matched a pistol missing from his home. The man appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The body was taken to the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow for identification and further examination. The incident remains under active investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
