Dawnita Leauta Wilkerson was born on March 14, 1976. She is a mother of six children, ages 15 to 22. At the time of her disappearance, Wilkerson was staying at her brother’s house in Evansville, Indiana.
She has several medical conditions that require medication that she is without.
Disappearance
On June 21, 2020, Dawnita Wilkerson was last seen by her 15-year-old daughter when she left her brother’s house, saying she would be right back.
At 8:16 pm, Wilkerson was captured on surveillance camera leaving an East Side motel in Evansville, Indiana. She was later seen standing next to another man outside the hotel before getting into a silver 2004 Chevrolet Suburban with tinted windows and a sunroof.
Dawnita Wilkerson never returned home and hasn’t been heard from since.
Her family filed a missing person’s report with the Evansville Police Department when Wilkerson didn’t call her mother or her daughters the next morning, as she usually did.

Investigation
The silver SUV Dawnita got into after leaving the motel drove through Southwest Indiana and into Southern Illinois. Her cell phone last pinged to five spots in and around Carbondale, Illinois before being turned off the next morning.
According to her family, Wilkerson had received threatening messages from two men, one of whom was a former boyfriend, in the days leading up to her disappearance.
Court records show that her former boyfriend was arrested four times in 2018 and 2019 for domestic violence and battery incidents with Dawnita listed as the victim.
The two men’s identities have not been publicly released and they have not been named as suspects. Authorities identified the SUV’s owner, but the person reportedly refused to cooperate with the investigation.
Whereabouts
The investigation in Dawnita Wilkerson’s disappearance is currently ongoing and active. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Dawnita’s discovery.
The circumstances of Dawnita Wilkerson’s disappearance remain unclear and her case is currently classified as missing. Her case remains unsolved.

African-American female born on March 14, 1976. Dawnita has black hair, brown eyes, stands 5’3 tall and weighs 145 pounds.
Distinctive Physical Features:
Dawnita has multiple tattoos including a heart on her lower back, praying hands with the name “Timmy” on her upper right shoulder and a cross on her upper left shoulder.
Clothing and accessories:
Dawnita was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, blue jean shorts and sandals.
