Disappearance
On December 27, 2010, David Mekvold arrived to his job at Standard Insurance in Portland, Oregon. He talked with his wife on the phone around 1:30 pm, and she states their conversation was normal.
David hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
His wife reported him missing to the Gresham Police Department when he failed to return home from work.
Investigation
David worked until at least 1:00 pm on the day he disappeared. A coworker later noticed David’s uneaten lunch in the garbage, and that his personal items had been removed from his work station.
The day after David went missing, his truck, a Gray 1998 Mazda pickup with Oregon plate #WJP493, was found abandoned on a gravel road in a secluded, wooded area near Beacon Rock in Skamania County, Washington, about 40 miles east of Portland.
Police conducted three searches of the Columbia River Gorge area where David’s truck was found, including across the railway tracks to the river, but no additional clues as to his whereabouts were found.
Whereabouts
The location of David Mekvold, as well as the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, remains unknown.
Authorities say there’s no evidence of foul play in his disappearance, but no evidence he planned to leave on his own either. His case remains unsolved.
Appearance
White male born on September 28, 1968. David has graying hair, brown eyes, stands 5’9, and weighs 180 pounds.
He wears eyeglasses. It is unknown what he was wearing when he disappeared.
