Case Information
55 year old David Cook was last seen in LaCygne, Kansas on November 19, 2008. The last confirmed sighting of him was leaving his job at the Kansas City Power & Light Plant at 10:30 pm.
Background
David grew up in Ballard, Missouri and is the oldest of seven siblings. He is divorced and has one daughter, and is said to be on good terms with his ex-wife.
He worked at the Kansas City Power Light Plant in LaCygne, Kansas for 33 years. He also managed the 8,000 acre Sterling ranch in Amsterdam, Missouri, which had nearly 1,000 head of cattle.
Described as an avid outdoorsman, he often accompanied visitors and business partners who came to the ranch to hunt and fish. Between June and November 2008, it is believed he was having cattle stolen from his property.
Disappearance
At 10:30 pm on November 18, 2008, David Cook left his job at Kansas City Power & Light Plant in LaCygne, Kansas.
After reviewing David’s phone records, it is believed he met with one of his hired farmhands at the cattle ranch he managed in Amsterdam, Missouri around 7:00 am on November 19, 2008.
David hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Loved ones say he wouldn’t have left on his own accord.
On November 20, 2008, his family officially reported him missing after he missed a business meeting and failed to show up for work.
Investigation
The farmhand said he and David checked on some cattle and repaired some fence a few miles away from David’s home on the morning of November 19th. He says David then rode back home on his four wheeler.
David missed a scheduled meeting with one of his business partners later that day, which is out of character for him.
Everything in David’s home was found to be intact, with no signs of forced entry or foul play. Both of his vehicles were at home, and his wallet was found inside.
The only things missing were his cell phone, a cap, a money clip, and his eyeglasses. His phone has not been used since he went missing, which is uncharacteristic of him, as he would always answer his phone according to loved ones.
Extensive searches for David have turned up no further clues as to his whereabouts. Foul play is suspected in his disappearance.
Appearance
White male with brown hair (balding) and blue eyes. David stands 6’0 tall and weighs 200 pounds. He wears eyeglasses.
