69 year old David Lamar Brown was last seen in Brooksville, Florida on August 13, 2024. He disappeared after taking a walk in a wooded area on Batten Road.
Background
David Brown is battling state four prostate cancer. At the time of his disappearance his wife of 26 years, Amy Brown, had brought him down to Hernando County from Georgia to spend time with his brother.
Disappearance
On the morning of August 13, 2024, David Brown went on a walk with his brother and his brother’s dog in a wooded area on Batten Road in Brooksville, Florida.
The brother briefly returned to his residence to retrieve something, leaving David and the dog to continue walking.
Before the brother was able to return to the woods the dog returned home on it’s own without David. The brother searched for several hours, but was unable to find him.
At 1:30 pm he notified the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office that David was missing.
According to David’s wife, there was a special tree in the woods David wanted to visit to pray, but the trail to the tree was blocked, so his brother went back home to get equipment to clear the way. That was the last time his family saw him.
Investigation
During their search of the area authorities obtained surveillance footage showing David walking through the woods headed south towards Hayman road at 10:40 am.
David’s glasses and shoes were recovered in an area he walked prior to being recorded on the trail camera.
More surveillance footage was found, which captured David knocking on a woman’s door and telling her he was lost. He asked for directions to the tree before walking off. This is the last confirmed sighting of him.
“I don’t know if he got lost and he’s hurt and he’s lying in the woods somewhere,” David’s wife Amy told Fox13. “There’s a possibility that somebody may have given him a ride. I don’t know. I’m really baffled by all this. I think he would try his best to get back to us because he loves his family.”
There was a potential sighting of David walking along a busy Spring Lake Road around 5:00 am on August 14, 2024, about 2.5 miles away from his brother’s home.
Appearance
White male with gray hair and blue eyes. David stands 5’11 tall and weighs 175 pounds.
Clothing & Accessories:
David was last seen wearing a white shirt with horizontal blue stripes (ripped in the back), blue shorts, no shoes, and possibly one sock.
