Months after she was last seen, 48 year old Camela Leireth-Segura has been found safe in California.
“She was found a few hours ago so she is safe right now,” Cecelia Foss, a friend of Camela’s told the Independent. “The family has asked for privacy and the police hasn’t given me any details yet though so I only know that she was found so far.”
The Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed that Camela’s missing persons case is now closed.
The department released the following statement; “On October 5, 2023, an anonymous source reported seeing Camela Segura in the City of Santa Monica. The BHPD Watch Commander requested the Santa Monica Police Department follow up. After SMPD contacted Camela Segura, she informed them that she was not in distress and did not want any police services.”
Camela Leierth-Segura was born in Nederlulea, Sweden, where her family still lives. She worked as a child actress from the age of five and moved to the United States at 15-years-old.
Leierth-Segura is a model and singer/songwriter, best known for co-writing Katy Perry’s 2013 hit song, “Walking on Air”. In 2010, she released the album “Time Heals Nothing” on Universal Music Sweden.
Outside of modeling and songwriting, Leierth-Segura has directed music videos, live performances, and off-Broadway plays in New York City, Paris, and London.
At the time of her disappearance, Leierth-Segura was living in a one-bedroom apartment in Beverly Hills, California. She has a 19-year-old cat named Morris.
The Disappearance of Camela Leireth-Segura
On June 29, 2023, Camela Leierth-Segura’s last contact was a text message to a friend in Sweden. Described as “bland,” there was nothing out of the oridinary in the text.
On June 30, 2023, Leierth-Segura’s vehicle, a 2010 silver Ford Fusion with California license plate #6KZJ725, was picked up by a police camera leaving Beverly Hills at 2:40 am.
Camela hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
On August 8, 2023, her friend filed a missing person’s report with the Beverly Hills Police Department after Camela stopped answering texts and phone calls.
Investigation
Investigators have been trying to trace her car, but there has been no sign of it since it was seen leaving Beverly Hills in the early morning hours of June 30, 2023. It is unclear if she was driving at the time since the cameras don’t show the driver.
Before her disappearance, Leierth-Segura had been recently evicted by her landlord from her one-bedroom apartment in Beverly Hills, California. She mentioned to family and friends that she was struggling to pay rent, in part due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is unclear exactly when she was evicted, or where she was staying afterwards.
Camela’s loved ones say it’s uncharacteristic of her to leave without contacting anyone. She has a history of mental illness and paranoia and could be in a confused or panicked state.
Leierth-Segura disappeared along with her 19-year-old cat, Morris (pictured below).
