Following the discovery, Kraus’s brother took to Facebook stating;
As many of you may have heard, there was significant activity in the area where my sister Maria went missing,” brother Justin Kraus said. “Unfortunately, I have to share this, but I want my friends and family to hear it from a reliable source rather than through misguided social media posts.”
“Maria was fighting demons that we were unaware of, and now she has found peace. This is heartbreaking and not the outcome anyone hoped for. However, we can now bring Maria home and give her the memorial she deserves.”

The Disappearance of Maria Kraus

Maria Kraus is from Wall, Pennsylvania, a small borough almost entirely surrounded by North Versailles.
Kraus was last seen at 8:45 am on February 10, 2025. Later that afternoon her car was later found abandoned on the side of East Pittsburgh McKeesport Boulevard.
A witness claims to have seen Maria walking along that road around 12:30 pm.
It’s unclear why Maria’s car was abandoned. Loved ones believe she is in danger, saying that if her car had broken down or ran out of gas she would have called them for help.
Investigation
Maria’s family told investigators that her phone has been turned off.
Around 2:00 pm on February 10, 2025, Maria’s vehicle was found abandoned near the intersection of East Pittsburgh-McKeesport Boulevard and Braddock Avenue in North Versailles. The location is near metalworking plants and railroad tracks along a tributary of the Monongahela River.
County police, local fire and rescue teams, as well as family and friends were in the area Tuesday, searching for further clues as to Maria’s whereabouts.
