The body of Jakarah Lopez-Moore was found in Rochester, New York over the weekend. The discovery came on Saturday after authorities responded to a call about a body in the woods behind 5 Vanguard Parkway.
The body was sent to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office who identified it as belonging to Jakarah. The cause of death has been ruled a homicide.
It is unclear how long her body had been in the woods, but it was “in a state of decomposition in which a scientific identification was required.” No further details have been released.
16 year old Lopez-Moore went missing from her home on Weld Street in Rochester on August 25, 2023. She disappeared after walking outside, telling her grandmother she’d be right back.
Jakarah’s phone was turned off less than 24 hours after she disappeared. According to her family, her phone last pinged at Clinton and Andrews Streets.
