On March 4, 2025, the body of Belva Day was found inside her car in a remote area of the Jacksonville Air Force Base in Little Rock.
The discovery came after a maintenance crew found her beige Buick LeSabre in a ravine. The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and identification.
While authorities say they can’t make an “absolute, positive identification” of the recovered woman’s remains, they have no reason to believe it isn’t Day.
95 year old Day was last seen in Mountain Home, Arkansas on February 6, 2025. She disappeared after paying her electric bill at North Arkansas Electric that afternoon.

Investigation
On February 9, 2025, the Arkansas State Police issued a silver alert for Belva Day.
“She’s completely off-grid. No cell phone, no credit or debit cards that she could use to make purchases that we could track, no OnStar capabilities on her car,” Sam Seamans, a detective with the Mountain Home Police Department, says.
Belva’s license plate has not triggered any license plate readers in the area or state.
There have been searches with helicopters conducted in multiple counties, but no further clues as to her whereabouts have been found.
There was a potential sighting of Belva’s vehicle in Calico Rock, about 25 miles away from Mountain Home, but the sighting has not been confirmed.
