Alisha Smiley was born on October 7, 1981 in Birmingham, Alabama. She had been living with her aunt, Estella Evans, and her aunt’s husband for periods of time since birth, since her parents were unable to support her financially.
Loved ones describe her as an extremely friendly and trusting toddler. At the time of her disappearance, Alisha had been living with her aunt in the Ben Hill area for 8 months.
Disappearance
At approximately 1:45 pm on June 6, 1985, Alisha Smiley was last seen sitting on a bench outside the Omni International Hotel on Techwood Drive in Atlanta, Georgia.
Alisha’s aunt left her and her 4 year old cousin unattended while going to purchase wrestling tickets a short distance away. When her aunt returned, Alisha was gone.
Investigation
Alisha was last seen by employees at the Omni hotel asking for a cookie and where to find a bathroom.
Authorities believe Alisha may have walked to a nearby McDonalds shortly after being left unattended since she loved hamburgers.
An extensive search of the area produced no additional clues as to her whereabouts.
No clues have ever been found to suggest what happened to Alisha, though investigators believe she was abducted by a non-family member. According to loved ones, Alisha may have went with a stranger if approached as she was very trusting and friendly.
Police received a tip that Alisha may have been taken to Lakewood Fairgrounds, however a search of the area provided no evidence to support the claim.
Whereabouts
The location of Alisha Smiley, as well as the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, remains unknown. Her case is classified as a non-family abduction and remains unsolved.
Appearance
Black female born on October 7, 1981. Alisha has black hair and brown eyes. She stood 3’0 tall and weighed 30 pounds when she went missing back in 1985.
Her ears are pierced and she had a gap between her lower front teeth. She has a slight discoloration in the corner of her right eye.
Clothing & Accessories:
Alisha was last seen wearing a red and white A-line sundress with small checks, white sandals with silver buckles, lilac hair ribbons, and gold earrings.
